I’m Chris (or Christine or Peanut or Brick!). I’m a travel-loving math teacher based in Berlin. After growing up in New Jersey (and hardly ever venturing outside of the state), I had my first international adventure at 16 to Australia, New Zealand, and Fiji. Perhaps it had previously been dormant, but after this trip it was clear that I had a terrible case of wanderlust, most likely never to be cured.

I’m an outdoorsy vegetarian who loves climbing, kayaking, camping, and hiking (and most importantly – TRAVELING!). The majority of my adventures have been state-side and European, but I’m looking forward to going out and exploring more of our great wide world. Everything is on my list. And I believe everywhere has something worthy of seeing, learning, and experiencing.

When I travel, I’m mostly a budget-solo-backpacker. I’ve taken the overnight bus, slept in train stations, and couch surfed. I saw the swan lake ballet at the Royal Theater in Madrid for sixty cents and participated in countless free walking tours. Even though I’m on my own, I find that I’m rarely alone – usually meeting other travelers or locals. It’s these times that I learn the most about the places I am visiting and about myself.

It’s totally cheesy, but ever since I discovered this quote it’s been how I try to live:

“Twenty years from now, you will be more disappointed by the things you did do than by the things you did not do. So throw of the bowlines. Sail away from the safe harbor. Explore. Dream. Discover.
– Mark Twain

Whether you already travel, are looking to travel, or want to vicariously travel through me I hope you find my posts to be interesting, entertaining, and informative. I look forward to sharing my experiences, answering your questions, and seeing your comments.
